With the lovely floral displays that adorn its entrance, the Argyll Hotel is an eye-catching traditional property in the west end of Glasgow, close to the Kelvingrove Museum. Inside, the atmosphere is cosy and unmistakably Scottish, with lots of dark wood fittings and attractively patterned wallpaper.
The Argyll Hotel is housed in an attractive, terraced Georgian building, with an ivy-covered façade and hanging baskets around the entrance. The interior has an authentic Scottish atmosphere that particularly appeals to overseas visitors. The medium sized lobby is cosy and warmly decorated. As with the rest of the property, the 38 guestrooms are decorated in a very traditional style and one of the double rooms has a four-poster bed. They are clean and well maintained, as are the tiled en suite bathrooms. Located in the basement, but looking over the garden to the rear, Sutherlands Bar/Bistro offers a dining experience enhanced by soft lighting and an open fire. It serves lots of evocative-sounding dishes, such as pan-fried fillet of beef on haggis croutons, or lightly steamed delice of Tay salmon accompanied by a light champagne cream. The hotel can also help with theatre trips and other excursions.
